Questions and Answers:

QUESTION: What are common issues with range brass sorting equipment?

ANSWER: A common issue with sorting range brass cases is nesting. The small differences from one caliber to the next can create a tight nesting of some cases. For example, 9mm cases fit almost perfectly in .40 cases, .40 cases are an almost perfect fit in .45 cases, and. 22 rimfire cases are small and light and fit into almost everything. The vibration and/or tumbling action of nested cases will separate them most of the time but it is possible for a small number of nested cases to pass through.

QUESTION: Can I put the sorted cases directly into my press?

ANSWER: The answer is NO. Proper reloading safety practices and techniques should always be followed which includes quality control of all components used such as cases. Range brass sorting equipment is used to efficiently sort brass and greatly speed up the sorting process. However, a final visual inspection should always be performed prior to reloading any case.
